For the sixth chapter of the pop-up restaurant STORIES, we transformed the former building of the Springer Science Publishing House into an atmospheric world of experience for three months. Built in the 1970s and 1980s, the architecture of the building itself provided the perfect backdrop for a journey into the glamorous spirit of that era. Under the theme GOOD TIMES, guests were immersed in the aesthetic and energy of the late 20th century.
The building’s former foyer was transformed into a vibrant club – here, guests could round off the evening with curated drinks and music inspired by the disco era. The interior design of the restaurant is a tribute to the visionary Danish designer Verner Panton. With the kind permission of the Verner Panton Design AG, we curated original furniture and lighting pieces to create an immersive environment. The former company canteen was completely reimagined: textile-covered seating areas and wall panels in tone-on-tone compositions merge with iconic Panton chairs and luminaires, blending past and present into a cohesive spatial narrative.
Culinary direction was provided by 2-star chef Hendrik Otto (Hotel Adlon) in collaboration with the creative kitchen team of the Bliss Group. Together, they crafted an exclusive five-course menu inspired by the classics of the era: from a contemporary take on Toast Hawaii to a refined interpretation of Poached Pears “Belle Hélène” – a sensory experience with room for surprise and nostalgia.
